Core Committee meetings, which were held for 40 days, did not consider the law-and-order situation in Karachi, and ignored the deaths of 118 innocent people; issues such as targeted killings and bomb blasts are not on the agenda of these committee meetings, an Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh chapter spokesperson alleged on Sunday. Moreover, the ANP will resist all attempts by the City District Government Karachi to demolish Goths and rural areas in the city. In a press release issued from the party’s provincial secretariat, the Bacha Khan Markaz, the ANP spokesperson claimed that the Sindh government has been following a policy of merely compromising with one of its coalition partners, instead of reconciliation with every political force in the province. “The role of core committee meetings and the Sindh government is hopeless; the meetings are held only to decide a power-sharing formula, and that too, between just two coalition partners in the government,” he said. “Since October 2009, these partners have been deliberately extending the local bodies system in the province.” The ANP, he said, has demanded the restoration of the old set-up of the province, which was based on five districts. He warned that the party will not accept any other proposal in this regard and will strongly protest against the implementation of any other plan. |
