Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain has assured Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and its co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari that the MQM will resist any conspiracy aimed at dislodging the government in the centre as well as in the provinces. He said this in his telephonic address from London on the occasion of the 30th Foundation Day of the All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO) at Lal Qila Ground late on Wednesday night. The address was simultaneously relayed in 21 cities of the country. Hussain assured the PPP government that the MQM will leave no stone unturned to foil all such evil designs to harm/dislodge the PPP-led government. “The MQM will stand shoulder to shoulder with the PPP in their thick and thin,” he said. Meanwhile, he paid tribute to Awami National Party (ANP) chief, Asfandyar Wali, who recently visited Karachi and met leaders of the MQM, for bringing the two parties closer. As part of the reconciliation process between the two parties, Hussain directed the City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and the Site town Nazim to change the name of the under-construction Banaras Flyover to Bacha Khan Flyover. He said that this is a gift from him to all Pakhtoons living in Karachi. Referring to the Mohmand Agency incident, he also assured PM Gillani that the MQM will support all positive measures to be taken by his government for defending the country. Moreover, he congratulated all MQM workers support on the 30th anniversary of the APMSO, which was founded by him on June 11, 1978. He pledged to establish a democratic society, elimination of sectarian hatred, and to promote religious harmony. |
