| Anti-encroachment drive begins in SITE Town |

On the directions of SITE Town Nazim, Izhar Uddin Ahmed Khan, local town administration launched anti-encroachment drive in the town limits from Monday. The encroachment cell demolished walls of various illegal houses in Union Council (UC) 6. The cell also detained some pushcarts from Sector 5-E and removed others from the area. The Nazim directed the encroachment cell not to accept any political or social pressure during the drive and take serious actions against person involved in illegal activity and causing encroachment in the town. Furthermore, Khan directed the cell to remove the encroachment from the Metro Cinema and clear main roads to provide free flow of traffic. PPI adds: Due to better results of anti-polio drives, the Malir Town got the honour of becoming a polio-free area, said town acting Nazim, Sharafat Ali. Speaking at the meeting with lady councilors on Monday, he paid rich tributes to them for their role in anti-polio campaign. He said that still we will have to continue efforts to eradicate polio as some new cases of polio have been detected in Karachi. He said that we should keep vigil whether all children of the town have been administered anti-polio vaccines. Korangi Town: Korangi Town Nazim, Muhammad Arif Khan has directed the town officials to ensure a smooth supply of water to people of his town besides resolving the complaints regarding the water supply and sewerage system. This he said while presiding over a meeting of town officials on Monday. He asked them to improve the sewerage system so that rainwater drains do not overflow during the rainy season. |
