| CDGK finalises contingency plan for monsoon |

In the wake of upcoming monsoon rains, the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has finalised a contingency plan to avoid losses in the city. The contingency plan was reviewed at a meeting that was presided over by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Karachi, Javed Hanif Khan, which was attended by representatives of all the civic bodies of the city. The meeting was told that the CDGK’s Municipal Services Department has prepared the contingency plan on the directives of City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and it was aimed at avoiding human losses as well as minimising miseries of common people during the upcoming rains. During the meeting, it was decided that the CDGK and all town municipal administrations would set up control rooms at their offices which would work around the clock during the monsoon season. DCO Karachi Jawed Hanif Khan asked the officials to implement the plan fully and added that in this regard all departments concerned should work with close coordination and cooperation. It was decided that due attention and care would be given to the inhabitants of low-lying areas, especially those living around Lyari River, Gujar Nallah, Malir River and their link Nullahs, during heavy rains. |
