Participants consented on implementation of uniform assessment and rules for diploma courses as the two-day Inter Provincial Controller of Examination’s meeting, hosted by Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Karachi concluded on Thursday. According to a press release issued on Friday, the meeting emphasised the importance of technical and vocation education in the country. It was also expected that all the technical boards of Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan will go through the prescribed assessment and promotion rules and update them to reach consensus for uniform implementation. During the meeting the participants reached the consensus to evolve uniform assessment and promotion rules for Diploma of Associates Engineer (DAE), Diploma of Business administration (DBA) and Diploma of Commerce (D.Com) courses. The meeting also decided to recommend for separate grace marks policy for the DAE and other examinations. It was recommended that 0.5 per cent grace marks may be allowed in each year instead of total of six marks as permitted in general education by Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC). The meeting also decided to follow the rules for promotion of students from first year to second year for those clearing at least four subjects. Mohammad Saeed Siddiqui, Chairman SBTE announced that a similar meeting will be held on August 19 and August 20 in Karachi to discuss the issues on which consensus could not be achieved in the fist meeting. |
