Infrastructure development and the provision of all basic facilities to industrial areas was always on the priority of yhe city government and it would continue playing its role in their development, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal said on Wednesday. Over the last two years-and-a-half, a huge amount of Rs5 billion was spent on the development including infrastructure rehabilitation in the industrial areas which is the maximum amount spent on these areas over the last 58 years, he claimed at a meeting with delegation of Federal B. Area Association of Trade & Industry (FBATI) at his office. The delegation was led by Feroz Alam Lari while M. Rehan Zeeshan, M.Idrees Gagi and other office bearers of FBATI accompanied him. Managing Director of KW&SB Ghulam Arif Khan and officers of works and services department were also present on this occasion. The members of the delegation thanked the City Nazim for carrying out development works in city’s industrial areas especially in the Federal B Area Industrial Zone. Referring to the development works in industrial areas, Kamal said that the city government had imported special quality sewerage pipes from Dubai for industrial areas including Federal B Area which would remain useable for 100 years. He said that the continuity of development works has ensured more convenience and facilities to industrialists in Karachi while it has also created more jobs opportunities. Kamal also directed officers of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to provide immediate water connections to all factories still without connection. He also instructed KWSB officials to coordinate with the association concerned for the recovery of water board dues. The Karachi Nazim also directed setting up of a water billing section each in the Federal B Area and New Karachi Industrial Zone. He said that the association concerned should also make sure that all industrial organisations in their area had got water connections because after the construction of roads nobody will be allowed to dig it up for the supply of water connection. |
