Leaders of the KMC Fire Brigade Labour Union have demanded from the Sindh Minister for Local Bodies, Agha Siraj Durrani, to immediately cancel what they alleged to be 62 illegal promotions and help the experienced and eligible employees get their promotions. According to a press release issued on Sunday, the leaders of the aforementioned union asked the minister to save the department from incompetent people. They also demanded that senior and eligible employees of the department should be promoted which is their right. They alleged that EDO Municipal Services and DO, HRM are directly involved in illegal recruitments and promotions. They also alleged that for the posts of leading firemen and sub-fire officers, Rs80,000 per posting has been received as bribe. They further alleged that these promotions were made in back dates so that no senior fireman could register his appeal (objection) in this connection. They complained that senior officers are being overlooked; recruitments and promotions are being made on the basis of favouritism. They also complained that the quarters of firemen are also in a dilapidated state and no maintenance has been carried out for a long time. They also alleged that the EDO Municipal Services who is the head of several departments (Fire Brigade, Civil Defence, Human Resource, Solid Waste Management, Disaster Management, Community Police etc) has even closed the post of DO and taken the Fire Brigade into his direct control and favouring particular people. |
