The European Union (EU) observers have not made any allegations against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in their report, and the reports that appeared in a section of the press were baseless and unfounded.
This was disclosed by a two-member EU delegation that called on the MQM leadership at the party’s headquarters, Nine Zero, Azizabad, on Thursday.
The EU observers, who came here for the general elections 2008, apprised the MQM of their final report about the polls.
The delegation discussed the present political situation in the country, and in particular that of Sindh.
Dr Farooq Sattar drew the attention of the delegation to reports that the EU observers had used some derogatory remarks against the MQM in their final assessment of the polls. The delegation said that this was totally wrong and baseless.
The delegation further gave an assurance to the MQM that they would further clarify this in their upcoming press conferences.
Dr Farooq Sattar apprised the delegation that the MQM strictly believes in election reforms and feels that a national reconciliation process was the need of the hour. This, he said, was part of the MQM election manifesto. |
