Pakistan is one of the countries confronted with extremism, terrorism, and law and order problems, and this has to be tackled through a multi-pronged strategy. This was stated that by the Director-General, Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG), Brig Mohammad Javed Iqbal, while talking to The News just after the passing-out parade of the Recruits Batch No 31 on Monday at the PCG training centre, Korangi. He said that extremism and terrorism had taken root in Pakistan and the country’s enemies were striking at the very foundations of Pakistan. He underlined the need to further facilitate the forces combating this global threat. Iqbal explained in detail the performance of PCG over the last two years saying that the organization had seized 11,500 kgs of hashish, 112 kgs of opium, 22 kgs of heroin and around 90,000 bottles of liquor. Besides, he said, 112 drug traffickers were arrested during various operations while 25 vehicles and 8 launches were also taken into custody.
