Police submitted final charge-sheet in the court of Judicial Magistrate (East) Pervez Qadir Memon in the murder case of 75-year-old Karachi University professor Dr Zakia, and a charge was framed u/s 411 against alleged mastermind Munawar Abbasi for stealing her mobile phone.

He filed bail application in the court, which would be taken up on May 17. According to police, one Saleem alias Shabbir had confessed that he was employed in Dr Zakia’s house by Munawar Abbasi on whose intention he murdered Prof Zakia and handed over all cash, jewellery and vehicle to him.

Following Abbasi’s arrest, his remand was extended for further interrogation. But interestingly he was indicted in mobile theft case and after his interrogation the police submitted final challan in the case.

According to the prosecution, Dr Zeba Zakia’s body was found dumped in the bushes on January 29 in the jurisdiction of Sachal police station. The deceased was unmarried and used to live alone at her Gulshan-i-Iqbal residence.

Sachal police booked the deceased’s driver Saleem alias Shabbir, her housemaid Khalida, and Munawar Abbasi under Section 302/34 of PPC.
