Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Maulana Fazlur Rahman, has said that his political party would try its best to have the religious seminaries in the country protected and their status and identity maintained.

The JUI (F) chief was talking to religious leaders and scholars during his visit to various main madaris of the city on Tuesday.

He said that, while deciding to join the present setup of the coalition government, it was their priority to ensure freedom, independence, to keep intact the present status of the religious seminaries in the country.

He said that his faction of the JUI would work with the administrative controlling authority of the seminaries in the country - the Wafaqul Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan - to work out a strategy and policy for the incumbent government authorities to protect the status of madressahs in the country.

The JUI (F) chief visited the seminaries of Jamia Farooquia Shah Faisal Colony, Jamia Hamadia, Jamia Ashraful Madaris and Jamia Arabia Ahsanul Uloom in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and met their respective administrators. The JUI (F) leader will continue his visits of the seminaries in Karachi on Wednesday (today).
