| Kamal to give possession letters to allottees |

City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal will give away possession documents to allottees of the Orangi Town Cottage Industrial Zone (OTCIZ) on Wednesday (today). The Orangi Town Cottage Industrial Zone is a part of NC-52 comprising of 262 acres of land which was inaugurated in 1994-95 and plots were allotted to the general public through balloting. However, physical development work of the infrastructure could not be started due to various legal litigations and unauthorised occupation by the land mafia, because of which the allottees were facing hardships and the scheme was nearing abandonment, the spokesperson said. Kamal personally took the task in hand and the scheme was re-planned and the entire record of the allottees was updated again, he said. The legal litigation was also overcome with the continuous follow-up by the authorities and the area was cleared from encroachments while the development work at the site was also started in full swing, he added. The scheme was originally divided into nine blocks with a total number of 4,118 plots, including 3,949 plots of 200 square yards, 140 commercial plots and 29 amenities. The total cost of the project was estimated at Rs1,113 million, he further said. Kamal has decided that the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) will bear all the expenses of development charges in the cottage industry through its own resources whereas a very small part of the expenses will be recovered from the allottees in the shape of outer development charges, he said. Nearly 40,000 people of Orangi Town would benefit from this scheme, which will provide better employment opportunities to locals, he said. |
