A 35-year-old man was killed in Malir Memon Goth, within the jurisdiction of the Memon Goth Station, Gadap Town. The victim, identified as Mohammad Naseeb, son of Faiz Mohammad, was shot to death by unknown assailants. He was a resident of Memon Goth. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). The police said that Naseeb was an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), and his father was in jail for a murder case. He too was being tried for something at the Malir courts. On Thursday morning, Naseeb went to the court. He was accompanied by his cousins, who later told the police that they had seen a land cruiser following them since morning, but they had ignored it throughout the day. After the court appearance, Naseeb and his cousins left in their van. They took the Kacchi Colony main road which links Malir-15 to Memon Goth. The land cruiser intercepted them in a deserted area. Naseeb was forced off the van and shot. The people in the land cruiser then fled. Naseeb’s cousins told the police that there were at least three unidentified men in the land cruiser. ASH MLO Dr Shiraz told The News that the victim had been shot thrice. Investigating Officer Abdus Sattar from the Memon Goth Police Station is in charge of the case. No FIR has been filed yet by the victim’s family. |
