The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) President, Rasheed A Razvi, has said that there are no differences in the ruling coalition government over restoration of the pre-November 3 judiciary but the government is facing problems regarding accommodation of post-PCO judges of superior courts.
Addressing a general body of the SHCBA, he said lawyers’ leaders had met with Pakistan Muslim League leader Nawaz Sharif in Lahore and he assured them that the judiciary would be restored in accordance with the Murree declaration.
He said legal fraternity would not accept judges who were appointed in superior courts after the Provisional Constitutional Order and if judiciary were restored, there would be 17 judges in the Supreme Court.
Mr Razvi urged legal fraternity to be united and vigilant and said lawyers would continue their struggle till the independence of the judiciary and restoration of rule of law in the country. He also announced that Pakistan Bar Council would announce the further line of action at the All-Pakistan Lawyers’ Convention on May 3 at Islamabad. Two lawyers, Amanullah Yousufzai and Fida Khan observed a token hunger strike for restoration of the deposed judges. |
