Services of people engaged in the noble profession of nursing are incomparable, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri said Monday, during a meeting with a delegation of nurses. “We cannot forget the services of Florence Nightingale, the founder and role model to this very noble Profession,” Marri said.
The Information Minister further said that despite the passage of 60 years, Pakistan’s social sector had not gained distinguished growth and the health sector was also still without sufficient infrastructure and facilities.
She said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, during both her tenures gave great importance to the health sector and along with many other projects, she initiated the drive against polio with the support of society while 50,000 lady health Workers were also inducted to improve health facilities, especially in the rural areas.
Ms Marri further said that the government of Sindh was making all-out efforts to facilitate people at the highest possible level and the start had been taken from Larkana, which has been declared as a model district. She said that every Health Centre of Larkana at Union Council level will be provided all latest means of Medicare.
She also announced that the public - private partnership in this sector would be encouraged and appreciated the role of women belonging to the minorities. She held out the assurance that the basic problems of nursing staff will be solved. |
