Passion for bike-riding lands three...

A team of the Azizabad police caught three young boys who were involved in stealing motorcycles for joyrides and then abandoning them after the fuel ran out. Ten such bikes were recovered.

A party of the Azizabad police station was on routine checking near the Karimabad bridge, when a young boy riding a motorcycle crashed into a constable. When he was caught and asked to produce the documents for the bike, the young boy, who identified himself as 11-year-old Muzamil, failed to show the papers and claimed that the motorcycle belonged to his father. When records were checked, the police found that the bike was stolen. The boy was taken to the police station, where he disclosed that he, along with two young accomplices, had stolen 10 motorcycles from the area within a few weeks.

Consequently, the police conducted a raid and picked his two accomplices who identified themselves as 10-year-old Haseeb and 11-year-old Ashfaq. All three are residents of Husainabad.

During interrogation they revealed that they stolen the bikes to fulfil their passion of riding different motorcycles, and their leader was Muzamil.

The latter is a student of class 5. They wanted motorbikes in order to emulate teenagers who show their bikes off, especially on Saturday night. Their parents had, however, refused to buy bikes for them because of their young age.

But their undue zeal prompted them to steal motorcycles which were either unlocked or left with keys in the ignition. They roamed around on these bikes, and abandoned them in the parking lots of apartments when the fuel ran out. Muzamil, Hasseb and Ashfaq are neighbours and classmates.

On their disclosure, the police recovered 10 motorcycles. All recovered motorcycles were stolen from the Azizabad police area, SHO Azizabad Asim-ur-Rehman said.

Since the boys are too young to be prosecuted for the offence, an undertaking was signed from their parents and they were let off on the directives of SP Gulberg Town Allauddin Abbasi, the SHO added.
