Monday, 19 May 2008

Two police posts have been set up in Mohammedi Furniture Market in Manzoor Colony after shopkeepers protested the killing of a colleague of theirs recently.

Two motorcycles were also handed over to the police for patrolling. The Jamshed Town Nazim, Javed Ahmed, speaking at the inauguration ceremony of police posts said that it would help curb street crimes and provide protection to shopkeepers.

He said four cops riding two motorcycles would also perform their duty from 10 am to 10 pm in the market.

The TPO Jamshed, Javed Baloch, said the police would continue to cooperate with the shopkeepers. President Mohammedi Furniture Market, Sharif Gujjar, announced that they would provide basic facilities to the police apart from fuel and repair of their vehicles.

UC-2 Naib Nazim Mohammed Akram Mughal, TMO Jamshed Masroor Ahmed Memon also spoke.

It may be mentioned here that recently, some suspected robbers stormed a furniture shop in the said market and critically injured its owner. They tied something with his body. People erroneously assumed it to be a bomb and could not rescue him and by the time the bomb disposal staff reached the scene, the shopkeeper died as he had sustained severe blow on his head.
