| Rangers handed over security at Mazar of Quaid |

After the tragic incident at the Quaid’s Mausoleum in which a girl was gang-raped by the security personnel posted at the mausoleum, sending a wave of resentment across the country, the Government of Pakistan had decided to the change the security staff and had recommended handing over the security to the Rangers and the Sindh Police. Consequently, the government decided to deploy contingents of Rangers which were more than 20 personnel, along with the Karachi police, in order to ensure security. Officials said that regarding the deployment of policemen at the mausoleum, the issue was under consideration as the Quaid’s mausoleum management demanded more than 100 policemen in this regard which the police cannot provide as they were already facing shortage of personnel. |
