A division bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday issued pre-admission notices for April 26 to Chief Secretary, Sindh, DG Rangers, Commander Sachal Rangers, Wing Commander 72-Wing and Commander 82-Wing Sachal Rangers on a petition filed against the harassment of a Senior Inspector by Rangers’ authorities.
Petitioner Muhammad Noman Qureshi, Senior Inspector, Sachal Rangers, approached the SHC, submitting that, in January this year, he was assigned a special task in respect of flour mills crisis to look after their affairs and provide security to UC Nazims and other relevant authorities. He submitted that he discharged his duty with honesty and loyalty.
FS Wing of Rangers had filed a complaint against the petitioner for making money in flour mills crisis and directed him to appear before Commander Sachal Rangers 82-Wing for Court of Inquiry.
He alleged that the authorities concerned tortured him mentally and that he was not issued a charge-sheet as per the rules. However, Court of Inquiry acquitted the petitioner from all allegations. According to him Wing Commander 72-Wing (Head Quarters) told him on January 31 that he was directed by Commander Sachal Rangers to send him (the petitioner) to the torture cell of FS Wing of Rangers.
His counsel Ishrat Ghazali said that the Rangers authorities illegally issued verbal directions, neglecting the orders of the Court of Inquiry. He prayed the court to direct the respondents to submit the record of Court of Inquiry and not harass his client by compelling him to go to FS wing (torture cell).
SHC’s division bench after hearing preliminary arguments of the advocate, issued pre-admission notice to the respondents for April 26. |
