The Sindh High Court (SHC) noted the non-appearance of officials of the City District Government (CDGK) and the Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) despite court directives in a building regularisation matter and gave them the last chance to appear before the court at the next hearing.
The court was hearing the petition filed by construction companies seeking conversion of their plots in the PECHS area for commercial purposes.
Petitioners, who wanted to build commercial buildings over their property, had submitted that the CDGK was not finalising their building plan nor issuing them challans for said purpose.
As matter was taken up before SHC’s division bench comprising Chief Justice Azizullah M Memon and Justice Khalid Ali Z Kazi, the court observed that CDGK and KBCA were continuously defying the court direction and despite the court order, neither the CDGK’s counsel nor that of the KBCA had made their appearance in the matter. At the last hearing, the court observed that contents of the letter submitted by the CDGK are indicative of fact that it was interested in something else than discharging its official duty.
The court, adjourning the case, gave the last chance to the CDGK’s and the KBCA’s concerned officers to appear in person before the court with relevant details of the case. |
