The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) called for increase in the strength of advocates on records (AORs) for Sindh to overcome the serious problem of unnecessary adjournments of cases and delay in disposal of backlog and fresh instituted cases.
This was demanded at a meeting of the Sindh High Court Bar Association managing committee headed by its President Rasheed A Razvi.
The meeting observed that the National Judicial Committee in its spelt out policy had also expressed its concern for backlog of cases pending before courts and framed guidelines for in-expensive and expeditious dispensation of justice.
It was noticed that annually 1,500 cases were instituted in the Supreme Court from the Sindh and, among other things, paucity of actively participating advocates on records was one of the main cause of delay facing the bench and the Bar as out of a total enrolled advocates on records, only 15 or so were actively rendering professional services.
The Sindh High Court Bar Association resolved that the present strength of the advocates on records was by no means sufficient to meet the desirable strength to cope with the ever growing number of cases instituted before the Supreme Court.
The Sindh High Court Bar Association said that the present strength of advocates on records should be increased to overcome the serious problems of unnecessary adjournments and delay in disposal of the backlog cases. |
