SPLA against hiring of retired persons |

Riaz Ahsan, President, Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association while welcoming the decision of the Sindh Government of relieving retired persons working on contract hoped that in future also government would not hire retired persons and only serving persons would be appointed to key posts.
In a statement issued on Thursday, he said that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah being the chief of the Sindh PPP, had already rejected the ban on teachers’ associations and also promised that their government would re-nationalise St Joseph’s and St Patrick’s colleges.
The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association office-bearers demanded of the government to re-nationalise St Joseph’s and St Patrick’s colleges, lift the ban on teachers’ associations, investigate the matter of payment of Rs 6 million to a lawyer as fee, and bungling of Rs40 million collected as application fee from the jobless people by the Education Department.
They hoped that the government would withdraw decisions including privatisation of educational institutions, change in the academic session, and transfers on political grounds. The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association also demanded an inquiry into the misuse of funds of the Sindh Textbook Board. |
