The Administrator Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Brig. Khalid Tirmizi chaired a meeting at DHA main office to evaluate and approve the contours and design efficacy of a master plan for revamping and up-grading the entire sewerage system in DHA.
According to a press statement issued here on Monday, a private engineering and consultancy firm, the architect of the newly laid drainage system in DHA has formulated an integrated master plan of sewerage system in DHA. This was done after a detailed survey and study of the existing system.
The reinvigorated sewerage plan is based on utilising natural force of gravity for optimisation of sewage flows to reduce pumping dependence, multiple pumping and elimination of existing 17 pumping stations in DHA, adds the statement. The system envisages an interlinked network of sewerage lines culminating into main trunk sewers.
While terming the designed sewerage system as “an optimistic and futuristic plan for revamping the civic services in DHA,” Brig. Tirmizi has directed the formation of a committee of engineering experts to re-valuate and study the design parameters of the proposed plan.
A comprehensive report is to be submitted within a month. The new sewerage plan would be approved by the competent authority before its implementation. Brig. Tirmizi also directed the concerned departments to ensure repair and rehabilitation of any left over sewerage lines disrupted or damaged during the mammoth construction work of drainage system in DHA.
Moreover, he has asked the DHA engineering branch to initiate the project of carpeting and reconstruction of roads damaged while laying the storm water drainage system immediately. CEO Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) Zeenat Ahmad, DHA engineer officers, project consultant’s team, concerned staff of DHA and CBC attended the meeting. |
