Life is granted once that is why wise men say to enjoy it, spend it happily and peacefully. Life in this context is the most precious thing in the world. But life in Pakistan! Oh god! It should be called worse than hell. The people of Pakistan are experiencing life as eternal torture and misery. No matter they are living in cities or villages, their life present a true picture of distress, utter helplessness and extreme frustration. Life in Pakistan, whether personal or social, professional or academic, ethical or political, life as whole is like a regretful tragedy.

In fact, the people of Pakistan have been caught by such greatest problems, which have made their life miserable to biggest extent. The greatest problem of these is the invisible fear in regard of security to life. When they see people, being murdered by some unknown criminals or killed in accidents, when they see innocent people targeted by terrorists and when they see the failure or in some cases compromise on the part of the government, they naturally feel themselves totally unsafe. Distinction between the poor and elite class of the society is another significant matter that has affected life of the people to the greatest extent. This is certainly a social curse, which has given birth too many other problems like development of VIP mentality and the attitude to feel proud on violating state laws.

Electricity, health, water supply and sewerage, traveling and transportation, education and employment are the basic requirements of life. Without these, life cannot be comfortable and peaceful .the people of Pakistan have to do without these facilities. Electricity breaks down and load shedding is routine. Health and education are beyond the reach of common people. Water supply and sewerage tells the same story. Unemployment and street crimes have endangered not only human life but the future of the society as well. Public transport and traffic problems have made us understand the real meanings of torture and punishment. And above all corruption, hypocrisy, and lack of the sense of responsibility are doing like poison to human life in Pakistan.

People in Pakistan have to live in such inhuman condition. They have to face these troubles in their individual and collective life. One cannot realize the miserable condition of a man who travels through public vehicles in animal like manner unless he has to go through the same condition. And one cannot feel the tension of that man when he gets late for his duty due to traffic jam. And what about the situation when he reaches his office to work but power breakdown or load shedding blocks his way. And what about the frustration when his burden of work keeps rising up but he finds him quite helpless. And then he returns to his home, he has to put up with the same traveling experience. At home, he naturally needs relaxation and peace, but receives a long list of demands and he starts to think how to meet the demand in his limited income, which has already become insufficient due to high rate of inflation. Here he gets more tensed and worried, as he is responsible for the family demands. He waits to his salary and at end of the month when he gets his salary, feeling a bit happy; he is robbed of this salary on the way. He approaches the police where he is asked to pay “chae pani” so that his complain may be registered. How can his feelings and sentiments be? So he gets out of the police station, unhelps and enraged.

Unfortunately, his child is ill and he goes to state hospital for his cure as he cannot afford treatment in private hospitals. There in the hospital, he sees a very long line of patients waiting for the doctor. The doctor comes at last but gets involved in chatting with his friends who have come to meet him. The patients keep waiting until the duty time is over and the doctor leaves his room. This is what happens very often in state hospitals.

These are a few examples to understand the living situation of life in Pakistan on common level. Almost every individual passes through these bitter experiences during his life. He has to compromise with the condition because he cannot let himself to die. He spends his life in the hope to see a better tomorrow but that tomorrow never comes.

This is what we call life in Pakistan. But doer it deserves to be called human life? Surely, not. Instead, it should be called an ordeal. A constant and unending ordeal!

No question that you've collected almost all kinds of problems faced by the people living in Pakistan, but to be more specific, these problems are common for people living in 3rd world countries.

It's more important to discuss/search the reasons behind these problems, to bring up and answer the questions which remain unanswered...

So lets explore, in the light of your article...

Para 2 >> "when they see the failure or in some cases compromise on the part of the government, they naturally feel themselves totally unsafe"

Question: Why do we only observe compromises on part of governments and do nothing about it? Are we an alive nation, or more importantly, are we even a nation?

Para 3 >> "Electricity, health, water supply and sewerage, traveling and transportation, education and employment are the basic requirements of life. Without these, life cannot be comfortable and peaceful .the people of Pakistan have to do without these facilities. Electricity breaks down and load shedding is routine."

Question: Aren't we the ones who contribute to these problems? Is it not us who spit and throw garbage on the roadside? Let go the govt for a while, is it not us who take no measures to conserve electricity?

Para 4 >> "And one cannot feel the tension of that man when he gets late for his duty due to traffic jam."

Question: Why does traffic get jammed? Probably because someone (out of us) who was in a hurry entered the wrong lane in the wrong way?

There are many more questions to be answered, but the most important thing to keep in mind is that 60 years is not too long for a nation's life (if not too less either)... it will take determination, consistency, spirit and time for us to overcome our problems

To end with:

God helps those help themselves (and I'd add, who help those around them too)

"nahin hai na ummeed Iqbal apni qasht-e-veeran se"
"zara nam ho tau yeh mitti bari zarkhaiz hai saqi"
