KHAR: The spokesman of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Sunday warned of tit-for-tat response if the Nato forces and Afghan National Army attacked the tribal areas of Pakistan to hunt down the Taliban leaders. Reacting to President Hamid Karzai's threat to launch attacks inside Pakistan, TTP spokesman Maulvi Umar told reporters by phone from an undisclosed location that the Afghan president was diverting his people's attention from his failure to establish his government's writ in the war-torn country. President Karzai threatened on Sunday to send the Afghan troops across the border to fight the militants in Pakistan. "President Karzai spoke like a frightened person as he has no control over his country. He multiplied his difficulties by hurling such warnings to the Taliban. We cannot be intimidated through such threats," Umar said, adding that if they were attacked, the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan would jointly wage a tough war against the Nato forces and the Afghan Army. "Hundreds of thousands of Mujahideen can defend the borders of Pakistan and the tribal areas and the aggressors would meet a befitting response," Umar said. |
