Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Vice President, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, on Tuesday termed the struggle for the independence of the judiciary a war for the protection of rights of the poor of the country.
Speaking at a dialogue “Future of Workers Movement in Pakistan” organised by the Pakistan Workers League, a labour wing of the PML-N, Hashmi urged the workers to learn the lesson from the unity of the lawyers fraternity, which has continued the struggle for their rights. Mushahidullah Khan, Salim Zia, Habibuddin Junaidi, Manzoor Razi and other trade union leaders also took part in the discussion.
The PML-N leader said if his party had committed any mistake in the past they were ready now for accountability. He said the announcements, made by the prime minister regarding the repeal of IRO 2002 and lifting the ban on trade unions in his first speech in the National Assembly has complete backing by the PML-N leader, Mian Nawaz Sharif.
He said they would repeal all anti-workers laws made by former tyrannies and would design proper policies for the welfare of the workers, who have been the most, oppressed and marginalised community in the society. |
